Membership

Membership of the Australian Mammal Society entitles you to two volumes each year of the society's journal "Australian Mammalogy", two issues each year of the Newsletter, abstracts of scientific papers presented at the society's meetings. Members of the Society shall also have opportunities to access "members only" pages and forums on the Web site and to be eligible for one of the Awards offered by the Society.

How to join the Society
The membership year runs from December 1 to November 30.
Full membership for 2009 is AU $80 if paid before 31 March 2009.
Concessional membership. is AU $35

(Full time students may apply for concessional membership and are asked to provide a letter from their Head of Department verifying their status in each year in which concessional membership is requested. Other members, such as those retired or unemployed, also may apply for concessional membership on the basis of financial hardship, and this will be considered by council).

Benefits of Membership
As a benefit of membership several services have been established on the website which are available to AMS members only in addition to the usual membership benefits.
Membership benefits and web services now include:

• Two copies annually of the societies journal "Australian Mammalogy"
  
• E-versions of some past editions of the societies journal "Australian Mammalogy"
  
• E-access to the complete list of members contact details to facilitate ease of networking
  
• E-access to the reference list of over 20,000 journal articles on Australasian mammals (Calaby's reference list)
  
• Automatic subscription to the "AMS email group" where important and pressing news and issues can be disseminated easily and efficiently (for, to and by members only)
  
• Discounts to AMS conferences, symposia and forums
  
• Opportunities to share reports and discoveries and special issues by having them added as special web pages
  
• Access to a lists of research projects being undertaken throughout AustralasiaOpportunities to post or discover the newest job or research opportunities
• Search for Members (Not currently available)
  A list of financial members can be viewed by going to the Members' section. The list is available as a resource to contact individual members of the society for the purpose of professional networking. This list is and remains the property of the Australian Mammal Society and is not to used or made available for any commercial enterprise or for Spam mail.

Renewing your Membership
If you are a current member your renewal application form will be sent to you in November of each year.
